The Rose of Jericho, (Selaginella
lepidophylla), also known as
dinosaur plant ,the resurrection plant Club moss, to name a few held a cherished place in many Renaissance collections of
wonders. When dry, it looks like tumbleweed, and rolls across the
deserts of Mexico and the Middle East in much the same manner. It
Tumbles along pushed by the wind until it finds shade and or water then
it puts down roots and begins the green /reproductive stage of its life
cycle once the water / shade is gone it pulls up its roots rolls
in to a dry light ball and starts of on the move again.
As mentioned before the rose is
thought to promote well being in the home or work place. It is
widely believed as it opens up it feeds/absorbs any negative or
unhealthy feeling in the surrounding area. then it is left to die back
to its dry state taking the negativity with it.
In Mexico, the roses are
brought out to bloom just once a year, at Christmas.
